Risk Developer

Overview

The Risk Developer will play a key role in the development of a state-of-the-art risk platform within a commodities trading firm. Working closely with traders, quantitative analysts, and technology teams, the contractor will focus on building scalable and efficient systems that transform market data into pricing, valuations, and risk calculations, all while contributing to the evolving architecture of the platform. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a greenfield project and to influence future engineering standards and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop core pricing and risk engines using modern Python.
  • Design scalable, distributed services for processing market data and risk calculations.
  • Improve the performance of pricing and risk analytics towards real-time capabilities.
  • Build cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS and distributed computing technologies like Ray.
  • Collaborate with front-office stakeholders to identify business challenges and deliver technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the architectural and engineering standards of the platform.
  • Utilize AI development tools to enhance engineering productivity and output.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Python development within a commercial setting.
  • Background in building pricing, valuation, risk, or quantitative trading applications.
  • Familiarity with commodity markets, particularly in Gas, Power, or Oil.
  • Experience with distributed computing technologies, preferably Ray.
  • Hands-on experience deploying applications on AWS.
  • Strong grasp of software engineering best practices, including CI/CD.
  • Experience developing high-performance backend systems for complex calculations.
  • A proactive problem-solver who owns projects and contributes innovative ideas.
