Overview
The Senior AI Engineer will play a key role in developing mission-critical AI systems for a UK-based company, focusing on building agentic AI systems in production with secure deployments. The engineer will collaborate within a hybrid working environment, enhancing workflows with the implementation of advanced AI models and ensuring high reliability and performance of the systems.
Responsibilities
- Build agent-based AI systems end-to-end, covering orchestration, state, and tool calling.
- Engineer solutions for production, emphasizing tests, reliability, latency, and failure handling.
- Utilize large language models (LLMs) and vision-capable systems for real workflows, including retrieval, reasoning, summarisation, and task execution.
- Deploy AI systems across cloud and restricted environments, including on-premises settings.
- Set up system evaluation and monitoring, providing clear documentation for handover.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience as a senior software engineer, with strong proficiency in Python.
- Demonstrated experience in shipping LLM/agentic systems to production rather than prototypes.
- Solid retrieval/search experience handling multi-terabyte datasets effectively.
- Comfortable using Docker and Git for version control and containerization.
- Experience with AWS is a plus and secure deployment on-premises or in controlled networks is beneficial.
