Overview
We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer on a contract basis to design, build, and deploy complex AI systems from end to end. This role offers the opportunity to take genuine technical ownership of innovative AI projects, working with multi-agent architectures and large language models. The contract offers a hybrid working arrangement and is set for an initial period of six months with strong potential for extension.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex AI systems with a focus on production readiness.
- Build and manage multi-agent and agentic workflows, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Develop large-scale multimodal search and retrieval pipelines in cloud and on-prem environments.
- Set technical direction and engineer for failure handling and performance optimization.
- Integrate and deploy machine learning models, leveraging tools like Docker and Git.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence engineering standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with Python and production-level software engineering.
- Commercial experience in developing agentic AI and multi-agent systems.
- Knowledge of frameworks like LangGraph, LangChain, or Haystack for LLM/VLM integration.
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, and large-scale indexing.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Security clearance eligibility for UK BPSS and SC, including 5 years of continuous UK residency.
