Network Operations Specialist

Overview

The Network Operations Specialist will be responsible for providing operational support in a large-scale enterprise and data centre environment, focusing on incident management and network stability. The contractor will collaborate closely with various teams, including Engineering, Cyber Security, and external vendors, to enhance network performance and ensure compliance with operational standards. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing for a balance between onsite and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support across enterprise, WAN, and data centre networks.
  • Troubleshoot complex L2–L7 issues across routing, switching, firewalls, cloud connectivity, and Cisco ACI.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and permanent remediation efforts.
  • Support network performance, capacity, resilience, and optimisation initiatives.
  • Implement network and firewall changes, ensuring appropriate risk management and documentation.
  • Maintain network documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and operational standards.
  • Support compliance and audit requirements, including operational KPI reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Architecture, and Cyber Security teams, as well as external vendors.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in enterprise/data centre network operations.
  • Strong L2–L7 troubleshooting capabilities, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, QoS, and WAN routing.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ACI/APIC operational management.
  • Proficient in Palo Alto (PAN-OS/Panorama) with knowledge of policies, NAT, App-ID, User-ID, and HA.
  • Solid experience with Fortinet FortiGate, including policies, VPNs, SD-WAN, FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer.
  • Familiarity with MPLS, SD-WAN, hybrid WAN, and cloud networking (AWS/Azure).
  • Experience with Python and Ansible for automation, APIs, and workflow processes.
  • Understanding of network security concepts, including segmentation, Zero Trust, access control, and compliance in regulated environments.
