Senior Civil Engineer

Overview

The Senior Civil Engineer position offers an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary design team focused on delivering projects across the regulated water sector. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and project teams to solve complex engineering challenges, develop practical solutions, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality infrastructure projects. This hybrid role provides flexibility with a minimum of three days of office-based work, supporting both senior and principal-level engineers who will also mentor junior staff and lead technical delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver civil engineering design across regulated water sector projects.
  • Ensure design deliverables meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and review design deliverables, technical reports, specifications, and design risk assessments (DRAs).
  • Develop practical and efficient engineering solutions based on project scope, site requirements, and client needs.
  • Communicate engineering solutions effectively to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Support and collaborate with engineers, CAD technicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards, professional guidance, and water company specifications.
  • Manage design changes and maintain accurate project documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience within the regulated water industry in a civil design capacity.
  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater engineering systems.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering civil design within the water sector.
  • Experience producing hydraulic calculations and hydraulic profiles.
  • Chartered Engineer status preferred (for Principal level).
  • Extensive design experience within the regulated water sector, typically 10+ years (for Principal level).
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
