Overview
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will play a crucial role in enhancing the networking capabilities of a UK infrastructure estate during a transitional phase. This hands-on position emphasizes strong Cisco Meraki expertise and will involve providing 3rd-line support, managing complex networking incidents, and contributing to project work while collaborating across various infrastructure layers. The engineer will typically work hybrid, with an expectation of being on-site approximately two days a week, depending on project needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide 3rd-line support across a multi-site infrastructure environment.
- Take ownership of complex networking, connectivity, and infrastructure incidents.
- Support and troubleshoot Cisco Meraki switches, security appliances, wireless, and VPN connectivity.
- Diagnose issues across LAN, WAN, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Review and improve existing network configuration, resilience, and documentation.
- Identify single points of failure and recommend practical improvements.
- Assist with monitoring, alerting, patching, and operational tooling following the MSP transition.
- Produce clear technical documentation and maintain accurate network diagrams.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki.
- Solid networking background across switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.
- Experience troubleshooting complex network and connectivity issues end-to-end.
- Strong 3rd-line infrastructure support background.
- Experience with Cisco networking alongside Meraki.
- Good understanding of Windows Server and Active Directory infrastructure.
- Experience supporting infrastructure transitions, MSP handovers, or service-provider changes.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a strong troubleshooting mindset.
