Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Overview

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will play a crucial role in enhancing the networking capabilities of a UK infrastructure estate during a transitional phase. This hands-on position emphasizes strong Cisco Meraki expertise and will involve providing 3rd-line support, managing complex networking incidents, and contributing to project work while collaborating across various infrastructure layers. The engineer will typically work hybrid, with an expectation of being on-site approximately two days a week, depending on project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 3rd-line support across a multi-site infrastructure environment.
  • Take ownership of complex networking, connectivity, and infrastructure incidents.
  • Support and troubleshoot Cisco Meraki switches, security appliances, wireless, and VPN connectivity.
  • Diagnose issues across LAN, WAN, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Review and improve existing network configuration, resilience, and documentation.
  • Identify single points of failure and recommend practical improvements.
  • Assist with monitoring, alerting, patching, and operational tooling following the MSP transition.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and maintain accurate network diagrams.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki.
  • Solid networking background across switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network and connectivity issues end-to-end.
  • Strong 3rd-line infrastructure support background.
  • Experience with Cisco networking alongside Meraki.
  • Good understanding of Windows Server and Active Directory infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure transitions, MSP handovers, or service-provider changes.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a strong troubleshooting mindset.
