Overview
As a Senior Kotlin Developer, you will take the lead on back-end architecture for a crucial greenfield project aimed at replacing a legacy system that is central to global production operations. Collaborating closely with domain experts and engineers, you will extract and migrate critical operational knowledge into a new event-driven codebase, ensuring continuity and data integrity throughout the transition. Your expertise in Kotlin and experience with incremental system migrations will be vital to the success of this multi-year programme.
Responsibilities
- Own the back-end architecture of the new system in Kotlin, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL.
- Lead the design and implementation of domain-driven and event-driven patterns for the project.
- Build and execute an incremental migration strategy from the legacy system to the new codebase.
- Collaborate with non-engineers to effectively capture domain knowledge and ensure seamless transitions.
- Establish coding standards and practices that align with load-bearing requirements from the outset.
- Continuously engage with stakeholders to monitor system performance and address any migration challenges.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading back-end architecture in Kotlin or Java.
- Strong familiarity with event-driven architecture and domain-driven design principles.
- Experience running incremental migrations of live systems without data loss.
- Ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders and domain experts.
- A solid foundation in PostgreSQL and related technologies.
- Comfortable working in a remote setup, with occasional on-site presence required.
