Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Engineer for a 3-month contract to enhance the delivery capacity of our engineering team. This role involves primarily working with Scala on the backend while also contributing to various aspects of the service architecture including mobile and web applications. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with a small team, ensuring end-to-end ownership of the development lifecycle and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Deliver features and improvements across Scala microservices for payments, core banking, and rewards.
- Build event-driven integrations with Kafka and other internal/external services.
- Enhance reliability, performance, and test coverage of existing services.
- Deliver necessary changes in the React Native mobile app when required.
- Document and hand over work with clarity to maintain project continuity.
Requirements
- Deep production experience with Scala, ideally on the Typelevel stack (Cats Effect, Http4s, fs2).
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, including microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Proven ability to ramp up quickly with existing teams and codebases.
- Experience with React Native is a bonus, especially for shipping mobile features.
- Familiarity with fintech or payments systems is advantageous.
- Competent in using AI tools to enhance development efficiency.
- Commitment to maintaining quality through automated testing.
