Overview
The Site Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and detailed design phases of a major regional infrastructure project. Working alongside the project management team, the engineer will oversee site surveying, quality controls, and safety management, ensuring that all activities are executed efficiently and in compliance with project specifications. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to significant infrastructure developments such as new carriageways and drainage systems, making a direct impact on the project outcome.
Responsibilities
- Set out and survey points/locations using GPS and manage site survey packages.
- Supervise on-site works and manage sub-contractor activities in collaboration with the commercial team.
- Issue and manage permits to dig while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain quality control by enforcing Inspection and Test Plans and tracking non-conformances.
- Conduct pre- and post-work surveys and oversee traffic management, including occasional night shifts.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer on UK civil engineering projects, particularly in highways and infrastructure.
- Strong technical skills in setting out using GPS and operating service location equipment (CAT and Genny).
- Possession of valid certifications: CSCS Card, SSSTS/SMSTS, and First Aid at Work.
- Flexibility to work night shifts as required for traffic management during carriageway works.
