Overview
We are seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) to join a dynamic, globally distributed tech company focused on modernizing its platform. This fully remote position is ideal for an experienced contractor with extensive expertise in Rust and Java, as well as hands-on experience with React and Python. You will play a critical role in developing scalable backend systems and impactful customer-facing applications while influencing architectural decisions within an experienced product-focused engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build reliable, performance-focused systems prioritizing maintainability and clean architecture.
- Develop and maintain modern, customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations via Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from design to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction, engineering standards, and architectural decisions.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, and debugging.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack or Backend Engineer in production environments.
- Strong backend skills in Rust and/or Java, preferably with commercial experience in both.
- Solid understanding of concurrent programming, distributed systems, and backend development focused on performance.
- Commercial experience in developing frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python in backend services or APIs.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native development.
- Experience in building and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools in a daily engineering workflow.
