Overview
We are seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) to join a fast-scaling tech organization focused on modernizing its platform. The successful candidate will work remotely, collaborating with an experienced engineering team on projects that involve developing and optimizing backend services using Rust and Java while also delivering modern frontend experiences with React and Python. This role will have a significant impact on architectural decisions and feature development, ideal for a contractor with a robust background in full stack engineering.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build and maintain customer-facing applications utilizing React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from design through to production.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and platform teams.
- Influence technical direction and engineering standards across the platform.
- Apply best practices for performance, reliability, and security.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools for coding and testing.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack Engineer.
- Strong backend expertise in Rust and/or Java, with commercial exposure to both.
- Solid understanding of concurrent programming and distributed systems.
- Experience developing frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python in backend development or APIs.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Ability to utilize AI-assisted development tools effectively.
- Experience making architectural decisions or providing technical leadership.
