Overview
We are seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) to work remotely within the UK on a long-term project focused on modernizing a tech platform. In this role, you will collaborate with an experienced engineering team to design and implement scalable backend systems using Rust and Java, alongside developing customer-facing applications with React and Python. Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build high-performance, customer-facing applications with React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction and standards across the platform.
- Apply best practices regarding performance, reliability, testing, and security.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools in daily workflows.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack Engineer in production environments.
- Strong backend engineering competency in Rust and/or Java.
- Proven experience with modern frontend development using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python, particularly in building APIs or backend services.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Ability to quickly onboard and deliver value in a contractor role.
- Preferred experience includes leadership in architectural decisions and working in fast-paced tech environments.
