Overview
As a Construction Subcontract Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the Subcontract Manager to oversee subcontract scopes for Mechanical and Electrical & Instrumentation works within a Decommissioning and Carbon Capture & Storage project. This role involves managing subcontractor performance, ensuring compliance, and supporting project management through effective contract administration and commercial negotiations, contributing to the overall success of large-scale construction initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Ensure subcontract administration procedures are implemented and adhered to by all subcontractors.
- Prepare and issue letters and notices to subcontractors as required, ensuring all incoming correspondence is appropriately addressed.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Review and validate subcontractor progress payment applications.
- Support the project management team in identifying variations and claims that may impact project schedules and cost forecasts.
- Analyse Site Technical Queries (STQs), Site Instructions (SIs), and Deviation Requests to determine cost implications.
- Manage the setup and maintenance of contracts and price lists within the Work Progress Management System.
- Monitor and report on the alignment between physical progress and economic progress.
Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the Oil & Gas or Energy sectors, preferably on large-scale construction projects.
- Onshore project experience is essential; candidates with a combination of onshore and offshore experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong subcontract administration and commercial management experience.
- Proven ability to manage variations, claims, and change control processes.
- Experience working within EPC/EPCI project environments.
- Proficiency in contract management and project controls systems is required.
