Overview
We are seeking an experienced Android Developer for a six-month contract role with a public sector organization. The contractor will join a modern development setup focused on building a high-traffic mobile application that integrates essential government services. This role allows for four days of remote work each week, with one day required on-site in Manchester, fostering a collaborative engineering environment that prioritizes quality and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Integrate internal government services into a high-traffic mobile app.
- Develop features end-to-end while ensuring high standards of testing and quality.
- Utilize modern development practices such as automated testing and clean architecture.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Participate in performance testing and contribute to overall application optimization.
- Contribute to code reviews and uphold coding standards throughout the development process.
Requirements
- Proficient in Kotlin and experienced with Jetpack Compose.
- Strong understanding of MVVM and Clean Architecture principles.
- Experience with automated testing across unit, integration/feature, and UI levels.
- Familiarity with GitHub Actions for CI/CD processes.
- Desirable experience in Java and performance testing with K6.
- Knowledge of AWS and CodeBuild is a plus.
- Prior experience in the government or public sector and eligibility for SC clearance is required.
