Overview
As an Azure Virtual Desktop / Windows 365 Engineer, you will join a team focused on designing, building, and supporting secure virtual desktop solutions for a UK Government department. This role requires quick onboarding and immediate productivity in delivering a secure remote access platform that integrates Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop. You'll collaborate closely with architects, platform engineers, and client service teams to meet demanding user requirements swiftly and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and operate Azure Virtual Desktop host pools and Windows 365 Cloud PCs.
- Onboard users efficiently, including provisioning policies and user acceptance.
- Build and maintain golden images, app packaging, and image update pipelines.
- Configure FSLogix profile containers, storage, and session host scaling.
- Implement secure remote access using Global Secure Access and Conditional Access policies.
- Configure network connectivity across Azure Virtual WAN, site to site VPN, and private endpoints.
- Manage device and policy configuration through Microsoft Intune.
- Apply UK Government security standards and monitor desktop performance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft virtual desktop and endpoint technologies.
- Security clearance (GOV UK) is required.
- Proven track record of delivering large scale Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365 rollouts.
- Experience in scaling virtual desktop estates in regulated or public sector environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Confident in client-facing and consulting roles.
- Holding or pursuing Azure certifications, particularly AZ-140.
- Technical skills in Azure networking, Intune, PowerShell, and desktop performance tuning are essential.
