Overview
We are seeking a mid to senior Backend Software Engineer with expertise in Python and Django to join our team in a fully remote role within the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and maintaining backend services and APIs for a redesigned client portal, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver practical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and Django.
- Own the complete workflow from refinement to deployment of your work.
- Collaborate with product, QA, platform, and engineering teams to implement effective solutions.
- Make informed decisions considering security, performance, cost, and delivery aspects.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and improve team knowledge.
- Implement automated testing and maintain CI/CD pipelines for production reliability.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in live environments.
Requirements
- Proven experience in software development with a strong focus on Python and production-level Django.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement maintainable REST APIs using relational databases.
- In-depth knowledge of authentication, authorization, single sign-on (SSO), and secure API design practices.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD processes, and live environment issue diagnosis.
- Familiarity with cloud-based applications and infrastructure as code, preferably AWS.
- Effective communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- (Optional) Familiarity with FastAPI, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Docker, Celery, Redis, Sentry, Terraform/CDK, and agile product development methodologies.
