Overview
We are seeking an experienced BI Consultant to join a remote team focusing on the technical ownership and enhancement of a Power BI reporting environment. The consultant will play a crucial role in reviewing and improving existing reports, ensuring data accuracy, and delivering production-ready reporting solutions. This hands-on position is suited for a self-motivated professional who can confidently make technical decisions and work independently.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of Power BI development, enhancements, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Review existing reports and resolve issues across DAX measures, data models, filters, and visual presentation.
- Ensure reporting accuracy through testing, reconciliation, and documented quality assurance.
- Develop polished, intuitive dashboards with consistent formatting and strong usability.
- Build and optimise data models and Power Query transformations, using SQL to investigate discrepancies and validate outputs.
- Manage Power BI Service workspaces, refreshes, gateways, and security.
- Strengthen documentation, version control, and release processes, supporting a smooth handover from an external development partner.
Requirements
- Advanced hands-on expertise in Power BI, DAX, Power Query, SQL, and data modelling.
- Proven experience taking ownership of existing BI solutions and improving their quality, performance, and reliability.
- Strong understanding of data validation, testing, and reconciliation.
- A track record of creating professional, user-friendly dashboards.
- Experience managing Power BI Service deployments, security, and troubleshooting.
- Clear communication skills and experience working directly with business stakeholders.
- Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms is advantageous.
