Overview
The Commissioning Engineer role involves supporting major energy infrastructure projects across the UK, focusing on the testing and commissioning of high voltage (HV) electrical systems. The contractor will collaborate with experienced teams to ensure critical electrical assets are safely energized and handed over, contributing to significant renewable energy developments and other infrastructure initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical commissioning and testing activities from pre-commissioning through to energisation and handover.
- Commission and test HV electrical equipment and systems across major infrastructure projects.
- Work closely with Commissioning Managers, SAPs, and specialist subcontractors on site.
- Review and work to commissioning procedures, method statements, and test documentation.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve commissioning and testing issues.
- Liaise with DNOs, National Grid, OEMs, and other project stakeholders as required.
- Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications.
- Support the successful energisation and handover of electrical assets.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Electrical Commissioning Engineer on HV electrical infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of substations, switchgear, and transformers.
- Previous experience carrying out electrical testing and commissioning activities.
- Experience working through commissioning and into energisation.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, test procedures, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety and site procedures.
- SAP experience or relevant authorizations would be advantageous.
