Data Analyst

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join a remote contract position supporting a UK Public Sector project. The contractor will work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to gather and translate requirements, analyze complex datasets, and enhance reporting capabilities. This role is crucial for shaping data foundations that inform decision-making across the programme, ensuring data integrity and compliance with governance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with business and technical stakeholders to gather, document, and refine data requirements.
  • Collect, clean, validate, and manage data from multiple systems and sources.
  • Perform data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and correlations.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, visualizations, and reports using BI/analytics tools.
  • Ensure data integrity, compliance, and alignment with governance and security standards.
  • Translate complex data structures into clear explanations for non-technical audiences.
  • Produce clear, visually compelling insights for decision-makers.
  • Support data structuring and organization across systems and connected platforms.

Requirements

  • Proven experience gathering and documenting requirements from business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical capability with proven experience interpreting complex datasets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for translating data into clear insights.
  • High attention to detail with a strong data quality and validation discipline.
  • Experience with reporting and BI tools (Power BI and Excel BI).
  • Desirable: Experience using Python or R for statistical analysis or automation.
  • Desirable: Experience working with Databricks for data analysis.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Azure data services, SQL, or cloud-based data stacks.
