Overview
We are looking for a contract Data Architect to join a well-established UK business and contribute to the development of a new data platform that will support reporting, analytics, and future AI initiatives. This role involves setting the architectural direction, working closely with a small team of engineers, and integrating various data sources into a unified model. The Data Architect will play a crucial role in ensuring the platform's reliability and guiding best practices in data governance.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a modern data warehouse or lakehouse into production.
- Write SQL and Python to build data pipelines.
- Develop data models and implement data quality and governance standards.
- Handle sensitive data securely and ensure compliance with privacy and access control.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to explain architectural decisions.
- Integrate multiple systems into a cohesive data model.
Requirements
- Proven experience in designing and delivering data warehouses or lakehouses.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data pipeline development.
- Expertise in data modeling and data governance best practices.
- Ability to manage sensitive data securely with knowledge of privacy regulations.
- Experience in communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Prior experience unifying multiple data systems into a single model is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with preparing data platforms for AI use cases is a plus.
