Overview
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer for a contract opportunity with a London Market insurer, working in a hybrid capacity. The role will involve hands-on data integration, testing, and support, directly impacting business operations by enhancing and automating critical data processes. The contractor will act as the primary Data Engineer across various projects, collaborating with internal teams and vendors to ensure the smooth implementation of data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Act as the go-to Data Engineer across projects, enhancements, and production support.
- Build efficient and scalable capabilities to provide data and bordereaux.
- Enhance and automate the existing fee calculation process to enable the addition of follow markets.
- Validate data integrations against ETL specifications to ensure data models function correctly.
- Lead production implementations to ensure smooth release outcomes.
- Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to maintain quality and timelines.
- Identify and flag technical or organizational roadblocks proactively.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or Developer working with large data warehouses and big data sets.
- Strong knowledge of database systems, specifically Microsoft SQL and ETL tools.
- Experience in data analysis and reporting, with a focus on tools such as Power BI or Databricks.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable interacting with C-level executives.
- Understanding of cloud-based data solutions, preferably Azure/Fabric.
- Experience within the insurance sector is preferred.
- Knowledge of maintaining online reporting tools, particularly Power BI.
- Proficiency in Powershell and Transact SQL.
