Data Governance Consultant

Overview

The Data Governance Consultant will drive discovery, design, and execution of enterprise data governance initiatives for a key UK Central Government client. Working collaboratively with business teams, the consultant will focus on enhancing data quality, metadata management, and governance frameworks while providing training and support to client teams. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact within public-sector environments on a project basis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data governance discovery phases by conducting interviews and mapping key processes.
  • Design and implement data governance strategies and frameworks that align with departmental standards.
  • Define and map technical and business metadata requirements and establish data lineage.
  • Establish and build data quality frameworks, including monitoring metrics and remediation workflows.
  • Support enhancements to Master Data Management processes, including data cleansing and match/merge logic.
  • Provide formal stewardship training to upskill client teams on policy compliance and data standards.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in data governance consultancy within the UK public sector or complex enterprises.
  • Hands-on expertise with industry-standard governance platforms, such as Microsoft Purview or Collibra.
  • Strong understanding of metadata management, data quality automation, and MDM principles.
  • Proven ability to facilitate workshops and translate governance policies into operational workflows.
  • Active Security Clearance (SC) is mandatory.
