Overview
The Database Architect will lead the architectural decisions for modernising SQL Server workloads onto AWS database platforms. This role requires balancing strategic modernisation initiatives with practical migration timelines, ensuring optimal solutions for interim steps when necessary. The Architect will work closely with technical teams to oversee database migrations and validate performance across various environments.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and decision framework for SQL Server workload modernisation on AWS.
- Develop and implement migration strategies, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
- Oversee production database migrations, focusing on schema and code conversion.
- Lead performance tuning and high availability strategies for deployed databases.
- Design cutover and rollback plans for successful migration execution.
- Collaborate with technical teams to validate data reconciliation and integrity.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Proficient in advanced T-SQL and database performance tuning.
- Experience with Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL platforms.
- Proven track record of production database migrations.
