Interim Finance Director

Overview

The Interim Finance Director will lead a critical phase of operational consolidation and integration for a large-scale supply chain and logistics organization, providing oversight and strategic guidance through a major integration project. This role will involve regular travel to Germany, where the director will collaborate closely with senior operational and finance leadership to strengthen financial governance and support the local finance team during a transformational period. The position is particularly suited for a commercially astute finance leader who is adept at managing change and navigating complex stakeholder relationships in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the completion of an ongoing integration programme, including process harmonisation and financial consolidation.
  • Manage and develop a local finance team through a period of substantial change.
  • Drive operational finance delivery and provide decision support to operational leadership.
  • Establish financial governance, controls, and reporting aligned with group standards.
  • Identify and implement efficiency opportunities and cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Prepare the business for potential future growth and expansion activities.
  • Build strong relationships across operational, procurement, and central functions.
  • Liaise closely with group finance and senior leadership on project progress, risks, and strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of finance leadership experience, including significant senior-level exposure.
  • Proven experience leading integration, consolidation, or transformation programmes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams through change.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Fluency in German and English is ideal for local team engagement.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to Germany and have a regular on-site presence.
  • Self-sufficient and pragmatic approach to problem-solving and delivery.
  • Strong commercial awareness and business acumen, preferably in logistics or supply chain contexts.
