Platform Engineer

Overview

The Platform Engineer will play a crucial role in managing and evolving an Azure-based cloud platform that supports a leading software product. Working within a collaborative engineering team, the engineer will focus on ensuring the platform is secure, scalable, and resilient, while driving automation and best practices in cloud management. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of new features for product engineering teams through effective platform management.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain the Azure platform.
  • Drive platform automation and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Manage cloud networking, identity, security and governance.
  • Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
  • Monitor platform health, performance and availability.
  • Optimise cloud infrastructure for resilience, scalability and cost.
  • Work closely with development teams to provide a reliable, secure and high-performing platform.
  • Champion cloud best practice and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience building and supporting enterprise Azure platforms.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience, ideally Terraform or Bicep.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD.
  • Strong understanding of networking, identity and security within Azure.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability and platform performance.
  • Passion for automation and modern platform engineering.
  • Previous experience supporting SaaS or software product environments would be advantageous.
