Overview
We are looking for a skilled Python/Django Software Engineer to join our dynamic team, contributing to a critical central government programme. This role offers the opportunity to develop secure and user-centric digital services hosted on AWS, with an innovative approach to technology solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate with Agile teams and attend in-person meetings in London approximately once or twice a month, while working primarily in a remote capacity.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop web applications and APIs using Python and Django.
- Deploy services on AWS, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while participating in code reviews.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and delivery teams within an Agile framework.
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines and automate testing processes.
- Troubleshoot issues across development and live environments.
- Maintain documentation and adhere to security protocols.
- Seek opportunities to optimize performance and scalability.
Requirements
- Strong technical expertise in Python and Django.
- Proven experience in building scalable web applications.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, and ECS.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API development and relational database management, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of containerization tools such as Docker is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively within Agile teams and communicate clearly with cross-functional colleagues.
- Previous experience in the public sector or government projects preferred, with knowledge of GDS Service Standard is a plus.
