Overview
The Senior AWS Platform Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, building, and managing cloud infrastructure for a modern Python-based application estate. Working remotely within the UK, this contract position focuses on delivering secure, scalable, and highly automated AWS environments while collaborating closely with development and architecture teams. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive expertise in AWS engineering, Kubernetes, and DevSecOps to enhance cloud infrastructure and processes.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain AWS environments supporting business-critical applications.
- Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
- Build, manage and optimise Kubernetes environments for containerised workloads.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Configure and manage AWS services including IAM, S3, KMS, Athena, ELB and EC2.
- Implement security best practices including least-privilege access and encryption.
- Support integration between application components and ensure secure communication across environments.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and deployment standards.
Requirements
- Extensive experience designing, building and supporting production AWS environments.
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertise.
- Hands-on Kubernetes and Docker experience within enterprise environments.
- Strong experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- In-depth AWS identity and access management knowledge, including IAM and IRSA configuration.
- Experience working with AWS services such as S3, KMS, Athena, ELB and EC2.
- Strong understanding of AWS networking, including routing and multi-account environments.
- Python development or scripting experience for automation and deployment activities.
