Senior Azure Virtual Desktop

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer to play a crucial role in a large-scale technology integration program following a major acquisition. In this hands-on position, the contractor will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for AVD, collaborating with teams across Azure infrastructure, identity, security, and modern end-user computing to achieve successful integration and migration outcomes. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and problem-solving skills, suitable for an individual looking to drive impactful initiatives in a hybrid working environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure and support Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
• Manage Host Pools, Application Groups, Workspaces, Session Hosts and Scaling Plans.
• Design and implement Azure infrastructure aligned to approved architecture.
• Create and optimise golden images and automate image build/deployment processes.
• Work with FSLogix Profiles and App Masking.
• Support application packaging, virtualisation and deployment.
• Configure and administer Microsoft Entra ID, PIM and Identity Governance.
• Implement Zero Trust security principles and RBAC.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
• Experience with FSLogix Profiles & App Masking.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, PIM, and Identity Governance.
• Proficient in PowerShell automation.
• Knowledge of Azure Networking and Azure Security.
• Experience with Windows Server and Windows 11 Enterprise.
• Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
