Overview
The Senior Backend Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing and scaling a critical internal platform within a high-growth technology business. This hands-on position focuses on backend engineering, cloud infrastructure, and platform scalability in a fast-paced product environment, requiring collaboration with various product and engineering teams. The contractor will contribute to enhancing backend services while ensuring the reliability and performance of the platform.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance backend services and APIs.
- Improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Design solutions to support growing data volumes and user demand.
- Work with cloud infrastructure and deployment tooling.
- Support integrations with third-party systems and services.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability capabilities.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver new functionality.
- Advise on architecture and technical best practices.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Python development.
- Experience building and scaling cloud-native applications.
- In-depth knowledge of GCP and infrastructure best practices.
- Familiarity with FastAPI or similar backend frameworks.
- Understanding of platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud architecture.
- Experience in start-ups, scale-ups, or product-led environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
