Overview
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with expertise in EPOS and self-checkout systems for a contract position. The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of travel money kiosks, EPOS, and hospitality infrastructure, ensuring their stability and scalability through automation and proactive monitoring. This hybrid role requires collaboration with store teams and product owners to ensure seamless customer experiences across various retail environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain EPOS and self-checkout infrastructure across Windows 10, Windows 11, and Linux environments.
- Own the lifecycle from design and requirement capture to deployment, configuration, and third-level support.
- Create and manage non-production environments to validate changes, patches, and new features.
- Standardise and automate till provisioning, configuration management, and software deployments using VBS and PowerShell.
- Patch and maintain the operating system and application layers to ensure systems are secure and compliant.
- Drive proactive monitoring and observability to identify and fix issues before impacting customer experience.
- Lead Disaster Recovery validation, maintaining and testing recovery procedures for business continuity.
Requirements
- Strong troubleshooting and retail support experience.
- Proven experience designing and supporting scalable, resilient EPOS and self-checkout platforms.
- Strong administration skills across Windows 10, Windows 11, and Linux (e.g., Ubuntu/Debian).
- Proficiency in scripting for automation using VBScript and PowerShell.
- Ability to capture requirements and translate them into formal design and test documentation.
- Experience managing the full deployment lifecycle, including patching and configuration management.
