Overview
The Senior Platform Engineer will play a critical role in building and operating complex production infrastructure within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes, focusing on a major data platform for the defense sector. Working remotely, the engineer will tackle engineering challenges associated with inter-cluster networking, security, and operating in highly secure environments, utilizing advanced tools and frameworks. This is an opportunity for experienced professionals already holding or eligible for SC clearance to contribute to a significant and long-term project.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate production infrastructure across GCP GKE / Kubernetes at scale.
- Develop and maintain Terraform Infrastructure as Code.
- Implement CI/CD processes and automate deployments.
- Monitor and optimize platforms using Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.
- Design and manage Kubernetes networking and security policies.
- Architect systems for edge and central clusters with inter-cluster replication.
- Manage an open-source stack across the infrastructure.
- Ensure the infrastructure is secure and compliant with regulations.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in operating production cloud infrastructure, specifically in GCP and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
- Experience with CI/CD and automated deployment pipelines.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes networking and security practices.
- Previous work with air-gapped and multi-cluster environments.
- Knowledge of Cilium/eBPF, Kafka/Strimzi, Vault, Keycloak, or large-scale data/ML platforms.
- Must hold valid SC clearance or be eligible to undergo SC clearance with appropriate residency and background checks.
