Overview
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will play a pivotal role in a major new program, focusing on quality across data-intensive and quantitative systems. This position is designed for an expert who wants to take ownership of the QA strategy rather than simply executing predefined test plans. The contractor will work remotely and collaborate with engineering teams to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle, starting from code inception to deployment and customer acceptance.
Responsibilities
- Own the QA strategy and ensure quality is embedded throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Conduct testing for large-scale data pipelines and develop comprehensive test documentation.
- Implement automated integration, end-to-end, regression, and performance testing.
- Build continuous integration (CI) integrated automation frameworks.
- Perform API, functional, exploratory, and non-functional testing.
- Establish quality gates and manage defect triage processes.
- Test deployments into secure and air-gapped environments.
- Champion shift-left testing practices and foster a strong quality culture.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in QA/Test Engineering, particularly with large-scale data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and testing event-driven/streaming data pipelines.
- Proficient in producing detailed test documentation and factory assurance evidence.
- Familiar with automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or pytest.
- Strong coding skills in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience integrating automated tests within CI/CD pipelines.
- In-depth knowledge of API testing, test strategy formulation, and defect management.
- SC Clearance, or the willingness to obtain it.
