Overview
This role is for a fully remote Staff Full Stack Engineer on a 12-month contract, focusing primarily on Rust and Java with secondary responsibilities in React and Python. The contractor will collaborate with a product-focused engineering team to modernize backend services and enhance the frontend experience. The position involves taking ownership of complex technical challenges and influencing architectural decisions in a fast-scaling tech environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build high-performance, reliable systems with a focus on maintainability and clean architecture.
- Develop and maintain modern, customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction and engineering standards across the platform.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, and debugging.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack Engineer.
- Strong backend engineering expertise in Rust and/or Java.
- Solid understanding of concurrent programming and distributed systems.
- Commercial experience developing modern frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python for backend services and APIs.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools in engineering workflows.
- Ability to onboard quickly, communicate clearly, and deliver value fast.
