Overview
This role is for a Staff Full Stack Engineer on a 12-month contract, focusing on developing scalable backend services using Rust and Java while also creating modern front-end applications with React and Python. You'll work with an experienced, product-focused engineering team, playing a critical role in reshaping platform architecture and delivering impactful customer functionalities. The position is fully remote and suited for those comfortable with complex technical challenges and end-to-end feature ownership.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build and maintain high-performance, customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services and APIs using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful functionalities.
- Influence technical direction and engineering standards across the platform.
- Apply best practices around performance, reliability, and security.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools for coding and debugging.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack / Backend Engineer.
- Strong backend engineering skills in Rust and Java, with experience in both preferred.
- Solid understanding of concurrent programming and distributed systems.
- Commercial experience in developing modern frontend applications with React.
- Hands-on experience with Python for backend services and APIs.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Contractor mindset with the ability to onboard quickly and deliver value fast.
- Experience making architectural decisions or providing technical leadership at the Staff Engineer level.
