Overview
The Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) will join a fast-scaling tech business to contribute to the evolution of its platform by modernising backend services and enhancing frontend experiences. This fully remote position is aimed at seasoned engineers with expertise in Rust and Java, along with experience in React and Python. The role involves high-impact contributions in an experienced, product-focused team, influencing architecture and delivering scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build high-performance, reliable systems focused on scalability and maintainability.
- Create and maintain modern customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services and APIs with Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production deployment.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction and engineering standards across the platform.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools for coding and testing.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Full Stack or Backend Engineer in production environments.
- Strong backend engineering expertise in Rust and/or Java.
- Solid understanding of concurrent programming and distributed systems.
- Commercial experience with modern frontend applications in React.
- Hands-on experience with Python, particularly in backend services or APIs.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Experience developing production-grade systems and applying best practices.
- Contractor mindset with the ability to onboard quickly and deliver results efficiently.
