Overview
We are seeking an experienced Staff Full Stack Engineer for a 12-month contract, focusing on Rust and Java as primary languages, with React and Python as secondary technologies. In this fully remote position, you will join a dedicated engineering team working to enhance a globally distributed tech platform, where you will influence architectural decisions and contribute to both backend services and customer-facing applications. This role is ideal for contractors who thrive on tackling complex technical challenges and delivering scalable, reliable software solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build high-performance, reliable systems focused on maintainability and clean architecture.
- Develop and maintain customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction, engineering standards, and architectural decisions.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools for coding, refactoring, testing, and debugging.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack / Backend Engineer in production environments.
- Strong backend engineering skills with Rust and/or Java, with commercial exposure to both preferred.
- Solid understanding of concurrent programming, distributed systems, and performance-focused backend development.
- Commercial experience developing frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python, including backend services and APIs.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, scalable architecture, and cloud-native development.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools in engineering workflows.
