Overview
The Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) will work remotely as part of a dynamic and experienced engineering team focused on modernising backend services and enhancing frontend experiences. This role requires a talented engineer with significant experience in Rust and Java, as well as practical skills in React and Python, to lead the development of scalable and efficient solutions while influencing architectural direction. Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build and maintain high-performance customer-facing applications utilizing React.
- Contribute to backend services and APIs using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production delivery.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful features.
- Influence technical direction and engineering standards across the platform.
- Apply best practices in performance, reliability, and security in software development.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to enhance coding and debugging processes.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience in production environments as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack / Backend Engineer.
- Strong backend development skills in Rust and/or Java with a focus on performance.
- Commercial experience with modern frontend applications developed in React.
- Hands-on experience with Python for backend services and API development.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools for coding workflows.
- Ability to quickly onboard and deliver value as a contractor.
