Overview
We are seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) who will play a key role in the development of scalable backend systems and modern frontend applications. This fully remote position is offered by a rapidly growing tech company focused on modernizing their platform, and the contractor will collaborate closely with product, design, and platform teams. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in Rust and Java, along with a strong command of React and Python, and will contribute to architectural decisions and engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build high-performance, reliable systems with a focus on clean architecture.
- Develop and maintain modern customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services and APIs using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production delivery.
- Work collaboratively with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction and engineering standards across the platform.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, and debugging.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack / Backend Engineer.
- Strong backend engineering expertise in Rust and Java.
- Solid understanding of concurrent programming and distributed systems.
- Commercial experience developing frontend applications with React.
- Hands-on experience with Python for backend services and APIs.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Contractor mindset, with a quick onboarding ability and clear communication skills.
