AWS Engineer

Overview

The AWS Engineer role is a hands-on engineering position focused on building and automating cloud solutions to support a significant cloud migration and disaster recovery initiative. The contractor will work closely with a leading technology company’s engineering team to manage and enhance approximately 60 critical services within AWS, applying best practices in software engineering and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Build and automate solutions within AWS.
  • Develop production-quality code, scripts, and automation.
  • Support cloud migration and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Work with ECS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, and AWS security services.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitHub Actions.
  • Participate in code reviews and apply clean code, testing, and SDLC best practices.
  • Troubleshoot AWS infrastructure and deployment issues.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering/development background.
  • Production coding experience in C#, Python, Node.js, or similar.
  • Strong hands-on AWS experience.
  • Experience with AWS automation and infrastructure built through code.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience, ideally with Terraform.
  • CI/CD experience.
  • Strong understanding of testing, clean code, code reviews, and maintainability.
  • Desirable: Cloud migration/modernization experience; disaster recovery/resilience; AWS serverless or containerized environments; AI-assisted development tools.
