AWS Platform Engineer

Overview

The AWS Platform Engineer (AI Engineering) will be instrumental in the design, development, and evolution of a greenfield AI platform at a leading Investment Management firm. This role focuses on building a robust AWS infrastructure that supports scalable and secure AI-enabled products while also driving DevOps automation. Collaborating with engineering teams, the contractor will implement foundational platform elements and mentor fellow engineers, ensuring that best practices are followed throughout the project.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and evolve AWS platform foundations, including multi-account architecture and landing zones.
  • Drive platform design and engineering standards, embedding golden paths to standardize service building and operation.
  • Enable automation, reliability, and cost optimization at scale by treating infrastructure, pipelines, and policy as code.
  • Mentor and support engineers, influencing technical direction and delivering cloud-native solutions.
  • Develop AI platform capabilities, particularly Amazon Bedrock, ensuring observability and security in a regulated environment.
  • Implement guardrails, networking, and identity management solutions to meet compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Proven hands-on experience with AWS, including designing and building multi-account environments and landing zones.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, preferably with Terraform, and strong scripting skills in Python and Bash.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security and governance, including identity management and compliance standards.
  • Track record of designing cost-efficient and scalable AWS solutions in complex enterprise settings.
  • Experience mentoring and leading engineering teams to elevate technical standards.
