Overview
We are looking for an experienced AWS Subject Matter Expert to lead the migration and replatforming of applications to a new AWS environment as part of a business acquisition. This remote position calls for a hands-on expert who will collaborate with both technical teams and stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AWS technologies and relevant cloud migration experience.
Responsibilities
- Assess the current source estate, map dependencies, and agree on a migration approach and wave plan for each application.
- Confirm readiness of the target landing zone, networking, and identity for each migration wave.
- Run or support migrations using AWS tools such as Application Migration Service, Database Migration Service (DMS), and DataSync.
- Manage M&A constraints including TSA dates and maintaining clean data separation.
- Support cutover and rollback plans, handing over runbooks and hypercare support to operational teams.
- Communicate trade-offs and decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and collaborate closely with cross-functional colleagues.
Requirements
- Hands-on AWS experience with at least two complete end-to-end application migrations.
- Strong knowledge of core AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, Route 53, Transit Gateway, and AWS Organizations.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Expertise in networking, DNS, and identity federation.
- Excellent written communication skills for explaining technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in carve-out projects, particularly within American-based project environments.
