Business Central Developer

Overview

The Business Central Developer will play a critical role in enhancing a business-critical ERP platform within a dedicated technology team. This hands-on contract position involves collaborating closely with the ERP Technical Lead to develop new functionalities, create integrations, and improve the overall Business Central environment, with a focus on delivering solutions from initial requirements gathering through to testing and release.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Business Central extensions using AL.
  • Build new functionality across finance, operations, sales, purchasing, inventory, and customer workflows.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between Business Central and wider platforms using APIs and web services.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with the ERP Technical Lead on solution design and implementation.
  • Take ownership of development through build, testing, and release.
  • Support and improve CI/CD and deployment processes.
  • Troubleshoot Business Central customisations, integrations, and production issues.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central development.
  • Expertise in AL development, including extensions and customisations.
  • Experience in building APIs, web services, and system integrations.
  • Familiarity with developing and supporting live Business Central environments.
  • Good understanding of CI/CD and controlled release processes.
  • Ability to work independently and own development end-to-end.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to contribute to code reviews, testing standards, and technical documentation.
