Overview
The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the customer data capability on Google Cloud for a client’s Customer Data Platform. This position requires a hands-on engineer who will manage data pipelines, ensuring that customer data from various sources is accurately integrated and made accessible for marketing and data analysis teams. The engineer will work collaboratively with different teams to create reliable data products and uphold data privacy standards.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.
- Ingest and integrate customer data from multiple sources into Zeotap.
- Build data models and transformations to support a single customer view.
- Support identity resolution, data matching, and customer profile quality.
- Implement consent and privacy controls in accordance with GDPR.
- Build in data quality checks, monitoring, alerting, and error handling.
- Work with marketing, analytics, and data teams to translate requirements into data products.
- Document pipelines and create reusable patterns for future data sources.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, especially BigQuery.
- Experience with Customer Data Platforms (Zeotap or similar).
- Strong SQL and Python skills.
- Familiarity with data orchestration and transformation tools (Airflow/Cloud Composer, dbt).
- Understanding of customer and marketing data, including identity resolution.
- Knowledge of data privacy, consent management, and GDPR principles.
- Experience with modern engineering practices, including Git and CI/CD.
