Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Full Stack Engineer on a contract basis to contribute to a transformative tech initiative within an experienced and product-focused engineering team. This role involves designing and optimizing backend services using Rust and Java, and developing customer-facing applications with React and Python. The successful candidate will work remotely, taking ownership of complex technical challenges and influencing architectural decisions, while leveraging modern AI-assisted development practices.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build high-performance, reliable systems focusing on scalability and maintainability.
- Develop and maintain customer-facing applications with React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to enhance customer functionality.
- Influence engineering standards and architectural decisions across the platform.
- Apply best practices for performance, reliability, testing, and security.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack/Backend Engineer.
- Strong backend engineering experience with Rust and/or Java, ideally with exposure to both.
- Solid understanding of concurrent programming and distributed systems.
- Commercial experience developing modern frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python in backend services or API development.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs and scalable architecture.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Strong contractor mindset with ability to onboard quickly and deliver value promptly.
