Data Governance Specialist

Overview

The Data Governance Specialist will support a defense consultancy by establishing and managing data governance tools and AI compliance. This role involves working closely with data owners and stewards to ensure adherence to data management standards, conducting risk assessments, and facilitating the creation of governance metrics and reports. The specialist will also lead governance committees and drive training initiatives to enhance compliance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and manage data governance tools such as Microsoft Purview and Collibra.
  • Collaborate with data owners and stewards to maintain data management standards.
  • Conduct AI risk assessments and regulatory compliance checks.
  • Develop executive dashboards, scorecards, and key performance indicators.
  • Facilitate governance committees and steering meetings.
  • Maintain audit trails and compliance logs.
  • Drive internal training and continuous process improvements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with Microsoft Purview and Collibra configuration for catalogs, lineage, and glossaries.
  • Strong understanding of data management frameworks and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in building executive-level reporting and performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Background in data stewardship and audits within complex organizations.
  • Certifications such as DAMA, Microsoft, or ISO 42001 are desirable.
