Overview
The SC Cleared Delivery Manager will join an internal service team focused on enhancing an operational technology service that supports a significant three-year improvement program for a UK Government department. Working primarily in a remote capacity with occasional onsite collaboration, the Delivery Manager will coordinate the delivery of system enhancements to ensure they align with strategic objectives, are completed on schedule, and manage activities across both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end delivery of system enhancements across discovery, build, and go-live phases within a live operational environment.
- Facilitate collaboration between internal Product Owners, Service Owners, third-party developers, and business users to ensure requirements are understood, prioritised, and delivered.
- Oversee project workflows to ensure changes are implemented without disrupting day-to-day operations, including timing of go-lives to align with stakeholder and user availability.
- Identify and mitigate risks, particularly around constrained stakeholder availability and user feedback cycles.
- Provide regular progress updates, manage project documentation, and ensure alignment with governance and compliance requirements.
- Work effectively within a small, non-specialist internal team where agile practices may not always be fully established.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Delivery Manager within small organisations or ALBs, supporting project teams where members have extensive responsibilities beyond the project.
- Demonstrable ability to adapt delivery approaches to non-agile or partially agile environments.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience coordinating internal teams, external suppliers, and senior users.
- Experience managing live service enhancements with minimal operational disruption.
- Understanding of governance, compliance, and vetting requirements within a public sector or government context.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- SC Clearance required.
- Desirable experience working on operational technology or case management systems, and familiarity with UK Government technology programmes.
