Desktop Support Engineer

Overview

The Desktop Support Engineer with Server Exposure will primarily provide daily desktop and onsite assistance, as well as operational support for key systems including Windows Server and Hyper-V. This role will involve collaboration with the Network Operations Center, vendors, and the IT service management team to ensure efficient handling of incidents and service requests. The engineer will also engage in hands-on support activities, as well as basic server and storage management tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily L1/L2 desktop and end-user support.
  • Perform hardware troubleshooting, replacements, and installations.
  • Coordinate onsite activities with NOC and vendors.
  • Handle incidents and requests using ServiceNow.
  • Monitor Veeam Backup and provide basic restore support.
  • Support Windows Server operations and patch management.
  • Assist with Active Directory management and firmware updates.
  • Perform device resets and cable management as required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in desktop support within a Windows environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows Server and Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with Veeam Backup and ServiceNow.
  • Understanding of ITIL frameworks and processes.
  • Exposure to HP Storage/SAN and Microsoft SQL Server is advantageous.
  • Experience in onsite support and vendor coordination is preferable.
  • Ability to work UK business hours from 07:30 to 15:00.
