Overview
The Risk Engineer will play a crucial role in a team focused on delivering major electrical transmission infrastructure projects. Collaborating closely with Risk Managers and project teams, the engineer will identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, contributing to enhanced programme certainty and effective cost management. This hybrid position involves both on-site and remote work, and requires travel to various project sites.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project risk registers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate risk workshops with project teams, clients, and supply chain partners.
- Produce and maintain Quantified Risk Analysis (QRA) for schedule and cost risk.
- Monitor mitigation actions and ensure risks are effectively managed.
- Support programme risk reviews, Early Warning Registers, and stage-gate assessments.
- Analyse programme dependencies and recommend appropriate contingencies.
- Produce clear risk reports and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Risk Managers to embed best practices across projects.
Requirements
- Previous experience in project risk management on major infrastructure, utilities, energy, or construction projects.
- Experience with Quantified Risk Analysis (QRA), schedule and cost risk analysis.
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining risk registers and mitigation planning.
- Knowledge of change management and analytical reporting.
- Familiarity with ISO 31000 or recognized risk management methodologies.
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline preferred.
- Professional qualification such as IRM, APM Risk, or equivalent is advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
