Overview
We are seeking a Senior Azure DevOps Engineer for an initial 3-month contract to assist with a major Azure platform migration project. The contractor will play a critical role in migrating existing services onto a newly developed Azure hub-and-spoke platform, focusing on optimizing deployment pipelines and modernizing legacy infrastructure. This position offers the flexibility of fully remote work within the UK and involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to support operational activities.
Responsibilities
- Migrate existing services onto AKS and into new Azure subscriptions.
- Standardize deployment processes by moving services and pipelines to a new Azure DevOps project.
- Develop and maintain Terraform modules across multiple environments/regions.
- Author and maintain Helm charts for microservices deployments.
- Support Kubernetes deployments, including ingress, workload identity, scaling, and troubleshooting.
- Work with Azure Front Door, WAF, Firewall, DNS, and routing solutions.
- Safely decommission legacy infrastructure, managing dependencies and state.
- Produce clear runbooks and handover documentation for SRE teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience with Azure, particularly in AKS and hub-and-spoke landing zones.
- Strong skills in Terraform, including module development and managing remote Azure states.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm, including chart development and deployments.
- Familiarity with Azure networking and security, including Front Door and WAF.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, particularly in managing CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability in migrating live services between environments.
- Experience in cost and performance optimization of Azure services like Cosmos DB and Redis.
- Ability to work independently in a senior contractor role.
