Overview
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our team on an initial 3-month contract, primarily remote with occasional site visits. This role focuses on supporting the migration and rebuilding of existing VMware infrastructure to Proxmox as part of a larger modernization initiative, working closely with internal infrastructure and project teams to ensure a seamless transition.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the migration of virtualised workloads from VMware to Proxmox.
- Assess existing VMware environments and develop migration plans and methodologies.
- Build and configure new Proxmox infrastructure platforms.
- Perform workload migrations, testing, and validation activities.
- Design and implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions as needed.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, virtualisation, and performance issues.
- Produce technical documentation, migration runbooks, and support handover materials.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and project teams throughout delivery.
Requirements
- Strong experience administering and supporting VMware vSphere environments.
- Proven experience delivering VMware to Proxmox migration projects.
- Strong understanding of virtualisation technologies and enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Experience with storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and shared storage platforms.
- Good understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, and switching.
- Experience building and managing highly available virtualisation environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance optimisation skills.
- Experience working within enterprise-scale IT environments.
